Take a deep breath. We see you.

With our passion for helping those with cancer-related or immune-suppressed skin concerns, we offer a wide range of solutions.

We understand there are days when you feel like you have been poked and prodded, leaving you exhausted. The thought of another skin treatment may seem overwhelming or anxiety-inducing.

That’s why we created a space to wrap you up in a cocoon of pure bliss. You can let go of any worry and relax with the confidence that we have the knowledge to properly provide you with a healthful, safe, and blissful treatment.

Why Oncology Skincare is so important

Keeping the skin as hydrated as possible during cancer treatment is of the utmost importance.

Keeping your skin healthy also prevents cracking and chapping, which can lead to infections, with your risk often higher due to your suppressed immune system from anti-cancer therapies.

At Hive + Honey, we use Eminence Organic Skin Care –  an oncology-friendly skincare line that has a vast array of products specifically designed for people who are in treatment or who have just completed treatment.

Unfortunately, just because products are organic, unscented, all-natural, or dermatologist-tested doesn’t guarantee the product is safe or effective. Using a specifically designed product that is oncology friendly is the safest way to go.

The many benefits of oncology skincare

Many studies show that the power of touch, such as through a facial or massage, can help reduce pain, improve mood, and reduce fatigue in cancer patients.

Here at Hive and Honey, we use the Tracy Walton Pressure Scale, therefore anyone in active treatment or recently completed treatment can still receive massage using Stationary Weightless or Still Touch.

Most of our clients experience multiple benefits from their skincare treatments, such as:

  • Soothing skin sensitivity

  • Replenishing skin hydration

  • Strengthening barrier function

  • Protecting against future irritation

Choosing an Oncology skincare specialist

It’s important to know that sometimes a client who has had a facial or massage from someone untrained in oncology skin care can return home and report flu-like symptoms in the days following the skincare or bodywork session. This may indicate that the therapist used too much pressure, an overly vigorous pace, or products, practices, and methods that were too demanding. (Flu-like symptoms can also be a side effect of the anti-cancer therapies.)

Not all aestheticians have the proper training to work with a client who is in active treatment or has recently completed treatment.

If you are unable to visit us at Hive and Honey, please see a provider who has been trained by a reputable educator in Oncology Aesthetics.
